About the cottage

Blake Cottage sits at the far end of grounds in the small estate of Cardwen Farm. This position gives this sophisticated single storey stone and slate built cottage a view of the surrounding countryside that is hard to tear your eyes away from. Watch the sunrise in the morning. Then sun yourself in the generous cottage garden, next to the feature Koi* pond listening to the fountain bubble, on our comfortable patio set with reclining chairs, then sip wine in the evening under the stars using the outside sofa placed behind the cottage in a very private patio area. Surrounded by a custom decorative fence that gives privacy, but allows the eye to travel and steal views of the extensive 2-acre mature garden below and beyond (which you will have access too).

Through two sets of large folding patio doors, the large natural travertine stone patio is echoed into the flooring of the living space of the cottage. Open plan kitchen, dining and seating under vaulted ceilings (exposed beams and trusses) means this wonderful stone building feels spacious whilst still comfortable and intimate.

The kitchen boats a full-size fridge, full size freezer, AEG induction hob, NEFF Oven and NEFF Oven Microwave. Dishwasher. Generous provisions of kitchen accoutrement still leaving ample space for your own groceries.

With the free Cornish cream tea provided on arrival you won’t hesitate to sink into the

two double sofas in front of the modern Woodburner. Large 45” SMART TV is connected to the internet, comes with Sky Q (Movie and Sports package), surround sound system plus a live connection to our resident Barn Owl box for those who love nature. We often see the beautiful Barn Owls fly right past the windows. Great Wifi in all rooms (free).

After a day spent enjoying the best of what Cornwall has to offer, a powerful walk in shower awaits, deluge head and separate hand shower, temperature controlled by wall mounted remote – no need to walk into cold water! Luxuriously appointed bathroom with Travertine stone tiles floor and walls. Heated and back lit mirrored cabinet, large freestanding basin over two large pull out drawers of the washstand gives you ample storage. Heated towel rail. So lovely to step into a warm clean fluffy towel!

The King Bed is comfortable with deep mattress, high quality solid wood lime washed oak furniture provides a large double wardrobe with shelving and drawers, two further chests of drawers as well as bedside table. A beautiful room with vaulted ceiling, exposing artisan beams and truss. A SMART wall mounted TV is connected to the internet for binge watching your own Netflix or favourite online streaming service.

This ECO building was a rescue of a ruined milking parlour, started in 2019 and lovingly completed 2023 with a keen eye for quality and detail. Blending old pieces with new quality, this stylish building was completed with high eco credentials. Hot Water is generated from solar water panels on the roof, electricity is provided from solar panels on the adjacent barn and harnessed into a Tesla battery. The solar function also provides all the heating into the building through underfloor heating which can be controlled into each room individually. Insulation was installed to even greater specifications than current standards. Mains power is connected and backs up all systems.

*Koi food will be provided for those who wish to feed the fish. Please note this is a deep pond close to the patio doors and care must be taken around water, particularly with animals and children who must not be left unattended.

 Gated parking easily accommodating two cars next to the cottage.

This cottage has a small admin office (for the holiday cottages) to the rear of the building independently accessed. The office is not manned all day, or every day.
