Introduction to Water Colours
Whether you’ve always wanted to try watercolour painting or are looking to build confidence with a brush, this relaxed and welcoming workshop is the perfect place to begin.
Set within the peaceful surroundings of Cardwen Farm, you’ll discover the joy of watercolour through a series of simple, hands-on exercises designed to introduce the techniques that make this beautiful medium so expressive. Working on a collection of small practice cards, you’ll explore washes, blending, lifting, layering, texture and other essential skills before bringing everything together in your own finished painting.
Rather than following a strict step-by-step project, you’ll be encouraged to develop your own creativity. Bring along photographs or inspiration that you’d love to paint—whether that’s a favourite pet, wildlife, flowers, landscapes or artwork that inspires you. Most guests simply use images on their phone, although printed photographs are equally welcome.
As a wildlife artist, Siobhan is particularly known for her detailed animal portraits and the use of pointillism, and she’ll happily share tips and techniques throughout the session while encouraging you to develop your own style.
Above all, this workshop is about slowing down, enjoying the creative process and leaving with the confidence to continue your own watercolour journey long after you’ve returned home
Marine Animals Watercolour Workshop
Discover the beauty of Cornwall’s coastline through watercolour in this relaxed and inspiring creative workshop.
Whether you’ve never picked up a paintbrush before or you’re looking to build your confidence, this workshop is designed to help you enjoy the process of painting in a friendly, supportive environment.
Together we’ll explore a variety of simple watercolour techniques before bringing them together to create your own marine-inspired artwork. Drawing inspiration from the fascinating creatures found around our Cornish coast, you’ll learn how layers of colour, texture and detail can transform a simple sketch into something full of life.
Throughout the session I’ll demonstrate techniques step by step, sharing the methods I use in my own artwork, including the distinctive pointillism style that features in many of my animal portraits. You’ll then have plenty of time to work at your own pace with individual guidance whenever you need it.
Every painting created is unique, making this a wonderfully personal experience whether you’re visiting Cardwen Farm on holiday or simply looking for a peaceful and creative few hours.
Leave with new skills, fresh inspiration and a finished painting to take home as a reminder of your time in Cornwall. Bring your own inspiration images of the subject you would like to paint! (It’s not cheating!)

Botanical Relief Experience
Slow down, gather inspiration from nature, and create a timeless piece of botanical art in the peaceful surroundings of Cardwen Farm.
During this calming workshop you’ll learn how to capture the delicate beauty of flowers, grasses and foliage by pressing real botanicals into fine casting plaster. The result is an elegant decorative botanical relief artwork that celebrates the natural world and makes a beautiful keepsake or thoughtful handmade gift. Botanicals are gathered from the extensive mature gardens of Cardwen Farm (which you will be welcome to walk amongst) but you are also welcome to bring your own pieces with you too.
I’ll guide you through each stage of the process, from selecting and arranging your botanical specimens to pouring, finishing and refining your plaster piece, using the best quality materials. Along the way you’ll discover simple techniques that produce beautifully detailed impressions, making every creation completely unique. You will leave with a beautiful 10 x 15cm plaster art piece, in a box that you are able to decorate whilst the plaster sets as well as knowledge of a delightful creative process anchored in nature.
The relaxed pace of the workshop allows plenty of time to experiment, enjoy the creative process and chat over a cup of tea while your artwork develops. Whether you’re completely new to crafting or already enjoy making things by hand, you’ll leave with both new skills and a handcrafted botanical plaque to display in your home.
Inspired by the Cornish countryside that surrounds Cardwen Farm, this workshop is less about perfection and more about taking time to create something naturally beautiful. Lasting around two hours in the studio your plaster piece will require 24-48 hours to fully harden, don’t worry – we will send you home with care and finish instructions!
